HERITAGE ROSE FOUNDATION INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
"CALIFORNIA'S ROSE HERITAGE"

"The 2005 Heritage Rose Foundation International Conference, entitled "California's Rose Heritage," opens with an overview of the history of the rose in California. Gain a perspective of significant benchmarks in the arrival of cultivated roses to California gardens and their development as a major landscape plant.
 Over the course of the conference, we will touch on the wild native roses of the West, and follow the course of rose introductions from the time of the Spanish missionaries to the heyday of rose hybridizing in the early twentieth century.
Speakers will include Fred Boutin, Jim Delahanty, Alice Flores, Mel Hulse, Jeri Jennings, and Gregg Lowery, among others.
Conference subjects include the History of Cultivated Roses in California, the Gold Rush, Historic Rose Sites, Old Rose resources and preservation efforts, how to collect and record found roses in the field, plus many more..."
