The Rosarians Network was conceived and is edited by Clair Martin, rosarian and Shannon Curator of Rose Collections at The Huntington Library, Art Galleries, and Botanical Gardens. Our goal is to provide a global clearinghouse for professional and volunteer rosarians who hold or share responsibility for the care and maintenance of publicly-viewed rose gardens. However, we welcome all those who share a love for the rose and seek regular input of serious information about its husbandry.

ROSA

We strive to provide up-to-date information by posting six journals per year. However, as we move forward with this endeavor, we plan for the eJOURNAL to be updated on a weekly basis, so that you, as a member, will be able to visit the site regularly, almost always to find fresh, new articles, letters, photographs, calendar postings, etc., on the site.

We are proud to note that the Network membership is comprised of over 600 rosarians hailing from over 40 countries worldwide. We currently have four contributing editors and three regular correspondents providing information and perspective from specific geographic regions covering five continents. We hope to add more as our contact base continues to broaden.

As we move forward, more and more services will be provided online. From a photographic archive to an active information tickerline to an "Ask Clair" segment and streaming video, our goal is to catch up to and keep up with the ever-expanding capacity that the Worldwide Web affords. We also hope to have a photographically active Member's Exchange, whereby any member will be able to contact any other member, either by email or Instant Messenger, potentially see their picture as well as a photo of where they work and/or other environs, to further the networking goals of the TRN entity.

Currently, the website and eJOURNAL are written, compiled, and generated entirely by volunteer rosarians and editors. At some point in the near future, it is our intent to offer membership to the Network via paid donation. We anticipate that such dues would be minimal in nature – along the lines of $20.00US per member per year. It should go without saying that the cost of actual website itself, as well as the hours and efforts which go into generating both the information and the website, are of such a nature as to require financial support for their continuation and upkeep. There will be more information on these developments in coming months.

DISCLAIMER

While the electronic universe holds great benefits for all, it also bears both actual and potential dangers. The most vital potential concern comes from our human predilection to accept nearly anything written down or recorded in some way as verified fact. We should never take such standards for granted without some degree of corroborative investigation. As with being true to ourselves, each of us must remain ever vigilant in being protectors and skeptics of the information that comes into, and impacts, our lives.

While TRN endeavors to publish valuable information which meet stringent guidelines for accuracy, we can neither guarantee absolute perfection in doing so, nor can we vouch for websites or publications to which we refer. It remains the responsibility of the reader to act on the information herein, knowing it comes to them as thoroughly screened and as factually verified as possible. Membership and use of The Rosarians Network materials is done with implicit certification that neither the Network nor its contributors shall be held liable in the event of any claim to the contrary.
